The Single Dose hopper for Encore ESPresso and Virtuosa replaces the standard bean hopper to allow for single dosing. The extra catchment trays limit “popcorning”, which occurs when small amounts are coffee are passing through the grinder without downward pressure from the beans sat in the hopper. This causes beans to bounce around the burr feeder rather than being evenly fed, which can create a slightly less consistent grind.
