2017 World AeroPress Championships

Cafe Alver’s three floors were packed to the brim in Seoul last Thursday, for this highly anticipated event. What an incredible night everyone had – with loads of updates from judges feeds (Jane Lash Brewing @jlbrewing, Origin Coffee Roasters and The Coffee Mag) keeping us on our toes! Congratulations to our reigning South African AeroPress champion Khan Chang for competing and taking some ZA “gees” to the champs!

It was England’s Paulina Miczska taking the reign, with Japan and South Korea taking the 2nd and 3rd place. Apart from crushing AeroPress skills, what we honestly love about this event is it’s all about coffee, and also beer! Mmmmā€¦BEER! ? We love a good beer! Magpie Brewing Co. offered three of their brews for spectators to enjoy on the house: their special white IPA called Renters Rights, a one-off California Common (a light and crushable hybrid style), and their First Train Baltic Porter brewed with their competition coffee – Kamwangi AA, roasted by Fritz Coffee Company.

Rocking the mic’s were the unbelievably vibrant, magnetic and entertaining Marcus Boni & Michelle Johnson, making this event unforgettable. We’ll catch up with Khan to get some intel on his experience in Seoul!
